IND vs BAN: Team India’s Victory Almost Certain in Kanpur Test, Bangladesh Likely to Be Clean-Swept! Here’s the Big Reason

IND vs BAN: Team India Poised for Victory in Kanpur Test, Bangladesh on the Verge of a Whitewash! Here's Why

India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test: The second match of the two-Test series between India and Bangladesh will be played tomorrow, September 27, at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. With a 1-0 lead in the series, India holds the upper hand. While India aims to win this match and clinch the series, Bangladesh will be determined to win the Kanpur Test and level the series.

Team India’s Victory Almost Certain in the Kanpur Test!

The pitch for the second Test in Kanpur is expected not to be a rank turner. Unlike the red soil of Chennai, Kanpur’s pitch will have black soil, meaning there will be less bounce, and the ball will not carry as much. It is anticipated that the pitch at Green Park will be flatter compared to the bounce seen in Chennai, and as the Test progresses, the bounce will reduce even further. Given the possibility of a slower pitch in Kanpur, both teams may alter their strategies and team selection. Instead of a third fast bowler, an additional spinner may be brought in. Either Kuldeep Yadav or Axar Patel might get a spot in the Indian team.

Ashwin-Jadeja Dominated in Chennai

In Chennai, on a red-soil pitch that provided regular bounce, both teams fielded three fast bowlers and two spinners. Although there wasn’t much turn, the bounce was sufficient for the spinners. Ravindra Jadeja and R. Ashwin made the most of it, taking 9 wickets between them in Bangladesh’s second innings.

India’s Test Record in Kanpur

India has played a total of 23 Test matches in Kanpur, winning 7 of them. The team has lost 3 matches here, while 13 matches ended in a draw. The last time India played a Test in Kanpur was against New Zealand in 2021, where India fielded a spin trio of Ashwin, Jadeja, and Axar Patel. It was the first Test match at this venue since 2016. In 2016, India won easily, but in 2021, New Zealand’s batsmen managed to draw the match.

Bowlers may have to work hard on this pitch, but if the pitch doesn’t offer much assistance to them, batsmen could find it easier to put up big scores. In 2021, Shreyas Iyer scored a century and a half-century on his Test debut, while Tom Latham bravely played two half-centuries against India’s strong spin attack.
